Emile (Jay Harrington) has a weakness for film. He buys the camera from the second hand store. It shortly becomes his “life”. When Raoul (Adam Goldberg) accidently stops the thief, Emile declares, “You saved my life!” He would be nothing without his new camera.
Raoul has a weakness for Catherine and bird allergies. He declares “I hate birds” after hauling chickens around Paris. He actually has a third weakness: inventing. He loves making new gadgets for Catherine and messes with the professor’s chemicals.
Préfet Maynott (Danny Huston) desires nothing but power. He will do anything to become the “mayor of Paris”, including becoming the monster of Paris by hunting for the real monster.
Francoeur has a weakness for music and curiosity. It wants to learn and uses the instruments in Lucille’s room to learn about music. Its other weakness is “water. You see fleas cannot live in water.” The commissioner wants to “drown the monster”.
If you take all of these weaknesses, you have the makings of a good movie (no pun intended). Take the camera, have the inventor rig up some props, the musicians write/produce the score, a power hungry villain, and role it all together into a movie. Silly idea, I know, but this little group of people could become a production company!
Unfortunately there is little on the internet about this movie, but I can always depend on tropes and idioms.
Thanks for reading! Come back next week for another Transformation Thursday.
